5 Favorite 1stdibs Items: Star Trek Themed!

For these top picks from 1stdibs' newest arrivals, we couldn't help but go with a particular theme. With the newest Star Trek movie released, we've got space-aged design on the brain! And by the looks of some of the gorgeous pieces we spotted on the site, we're not the only ones with a futuristic design theme in mind! Check out these fun pieces that would look great in your home, or even a space ship! And while we're certainly tempted, we'll try to leave out as many Star Trek references as we can!

1) Sofa designed by Warren Platner for Steelcase
Don't be fooled by this boring name, this couch is awesome! Curvy with white fiberglass, and sleek with brown leather, we love the shape of this couch. Made in the 1960s by Warren Platner for the furniture company always pushing boundaries, Steelcase, we could easily see this piece paired with other futuristic Mid-Century pieces or as a show-stopping focal point.

2) Vasa Luminous Acrylic Coffee Table
This coffee table would be a must-have if you were designing a futuristic-looking room. This piece practically looks like a hologram, or at the very least a set piece from the movie "Tron". Designed by the internationally known sculptor Vasa, this coffee table is typical of his work in exploring the three dimensional interactions of light and color. Made in 1992 and signed.

3) Ceiling fixture by Vico MagistrettiWe love this ceiling fixture by designer Vico Magistretti. Featuring five handblown globes suspended by sleek stainless steel, it's the ultimate addition to any Mid-Century modern or space-age themed room. We even love the bulbs that the fixture holds---also futuristic-looking! This piece is in excellent condition.

4) A Coclea Coffee Table by Fabrizio Cocchia for Sormani
You just can't have a space-age themed room without a piece of furniture that does something at the push of a button. When we came across this gorgeous coffee table, our expectations were far exceeded. This piece features "a body in lacquered wood with a chromed steel internal mechanism that allows the sectioned top to be raised or lowered via a push button on the base of the table". We would be hardpressed to not get one in each of the 4 available colors.

5) Dining Table in the style of Ico Parisi
We love the mix of global and futuristic that this dining table portrays. It would be a good piece to add to a space-age collection, but also a good stand alone to add a bit of future to a space. Made in the 1950's and of Pau Marfim Wood, this dining table is in the style of Ico Parisi. The price includes matching chairs.
