Much like Warren Platner's steel-framed furniture pieces, these two bookracks also create the illusion of being there, but not really being there, but only consisting of gilt brass rods and glass ends. This really lets the books become the showstopper---and not the piece holding the books up.

A neat light fixture with a very modern slant (check out the strict color palette of bold, primary colors), this piece belongs on this list because it has thin arms and lots of space between the elements---lending it a very unassuming-feel. It'll add to a space, but it won't stop the show. Price: $8,800

This is another shelf for our list, this time a Mid-Century piece made my designer Mathieu Matégot. Though a black color and therefore a bit of a standout when placed in front of light-colored walls, we still think this deserves inclusion due to it's super thin frame and barely-there feeling.

Glass-topped coffee tables have long been used in interior spaces where there's a lot going on, or the small size requires a table that doesn't clutter the room up, like say in a small living room. This table pulls double duty by not only having a glass top, but by also having a bottom that has a thin, airy frame.

This little table lamp is the perfect example how something small, and with a delicate frame can barely appear to exist, but still provide a lot of light and functionality.
