This Gabriella Crespi Double-Sided Chest of Drawers is AMAZING. First of all, it seems to defy physics. From Italy and made in 1970, it’s made out of white lacquered wood and chrome details. The cool thing about this piece is that it’s double-sided: there are drawers and even one pull out shelf. Though you probably wouldn’t want to hide one side of it by using it like a regular chest of drawers up against a wall, you could definitely stop some people in their tracks by using this as a room divider or even just allowing it to float in a space. It’s almost got a space age-feel to it, what with the incredible mechanisms that make the piece possible. Definitely exhibiting some strong Crespi characteristics, this would be a great piece to add to any home.
We are equally in love with Swank Lighting’s Vintage Murano Footed Lamps by Archimede Seguso in a yellow opaline color. Not only do these have a fabulous vintage-feel due to the translucency of the glass and the vertical ribs that give the glass a great texture, just look how adorable those glass feet are! No doubt making the piece a bit more special-feeling, those feet also help lift the body of the lamp away from the tabletop, meaning the whole lamps seems lighter and more airy. From the 1950s, we think this color is absolutely fabulous, and it’s rare for a piece like this as well.
It wasn’t hard for us to pick a pair of yellow lamps to go with Crespi's Double-Sided Chest of Drawers; yellow is a natural companion to a black and white color palette, and we think it looks great next to the chrome details. Deciding to go with a pair of lamps that are so vintage-looking and not more modern is where the combination of these pieces really becomes dynamic. The lamps feature an almost darling shape, with the bulbous bottom and charming little feet, and compared with the striking, modern and masculine chest of drawers, they contrast and make for a dramatic combo. We also like that the translucency and lifted height of the lamp helps balance the heavy, and close to the ground feel of the chest.
