A Perfect Pair: A 'Y' Table and Murano Glass Lamps!

Yesterday’s Designer Influence was a man by the name of John Dickinson, whose off-kilter and unique designs were intended to shock the senses and remain stylish. So, we chose one of Dickinson’s most popular pieces and combined it with a shocking pair of Swank Lighting vintage Murano lamps. We think this pair will be in the spirit of Dickinson!

This John Dickinson "Y" Table is a classic example of his ability to meld the unique and interesting with the stylish and accessible. Though the “Y” shape of this table lends an air of “what is this?” it also possesses the ability to blend in with other stylish pieces in an interior. Made in the 1970s, the glossy white finish to the white plaster table creates at once an ultra-luxurious look but also one that isn’t so shocking you can’t pair it with anything else. As crazy as it may seem, you’d be able to place this table in many different styled rooms.

The Vintage Murano Lamps by Seguso in Rare Persimmon Orange from Swank Lighting are another story. Bold, bright, jarring and exciting, there’s no getting away from the interest of these light-makers. Made in Italy in the 1960s, they are the color of molten lava, of the interior of the sun, of a campfire in summer. Pardon us if we sound flowery, but have you seen these lamps? Officially known as persimmon orange, we love the color, the elongated, curvy shape and the fun diagonal swirl patterns embedded in the glass. The lamps are placed on Lucite bases.

Placed side by side (or more appropriately, one on top of the other), you can see why we chose these décor items to go together. The Dickinson table might be a white color, but its bold shape insists on having attention paid to it. The bright, bold, persimmon orange Swank Lighting lamps call out from across the room and say “look at me!” Together they make an almost dangerous combination that is sure to get the heart rates going, the breath shorter and the eyes on fire!
