We’re really enamored with today’s contemporary designer profile, Los Angeles-based interior designer Mark Williams. We know we say this about all the great designers, but this guy really has a knack for creating rooms perfectly suited to his client’s tastes. His portfolio, full of great-looking rooms, proves that he has the ability to design for an extremely varied group of people and styles. And, frankly, the rooms he designs are just plain lovely.

Perusing his portfolio, we were struck by the names given to many of the homes. Titles like “Hollywood Hills Bungalow,” “Contemporary Beach House,” “English Beaux-Arts” and more prove that Williams is a professional at working in any style. Clicking into each photo gallery, we were absolutely transported to some of the most beautiful interiors we’ve seen in awhile.

Rooms are polished and sophisticated, yes, but also quite comfortable and “homey” feeling. Williams obviously excels at incorporating textures into a space for interest, as we spied interesting textures on walls, furnishings, window treatments and more. He also strikes a good balance between using calming, relaxing colors and spicing things up with bold punches of color. Many of his spaces actually had a great balance between masculine and feminine qualities, showcasing curves and other lovely details, but also including plenty of sturdy and heavy furniture for that great neutral and interesting look.

We also got a kick out of many of the kids’ rooms he’s designed. They were cool, funky, kid-like and sophisticated. They definitely looked great and like a designer designed them, but they also looked to be filled with plenty of details that kids would not only love but actually use. Kids would probably even be able to grow into these rooms for years to come, which would be great for parents knowing they wouldn’t have to redesign every few years!

Williams takes on interior design projects from the earliest stages, so he can work with both client and architect to create a space that both respects the architecture but stands on its own, as well. Him and his team of designers and assistants work diligently until the final stages of the project are complete. An avid traveler, he’s able to incorporate interior design ideas from all over the world into his projects. His passion to this field has paid off: he recently launched his own furniture line called Alton house, and he’s been featured in many mainstream design Magazines like Traditional Home, Coastal Living and Classic Homes of Los Angeles.
