Joe Colombo, yesterday’s talented and exciting Designer Influence, was a guy on the cutting edge of design, without doubt. Though he designed in the height of the Mid-Century, his style was so futuristic, his work looks more like it came out of the 1970s and 1980s. In honor of his futuristic ways, we’ve combine a pair of his chairs with a Swank Lighting lamp in a look that is ultra-hip and coming up!
This Pair of Joe Colombo Chairs from Italy from the 1960s comes in the most gorgeous bright neon green that we’ve seen in awhile. Petite, these chairs are perfectly sized for an adult, but their smaller scale means that the larger-than-life color doesn’t overwhelm. Made out of a neat material, you could use these chairs inside in a living room or dining room, or to spice up a balcony or patio.
Swank Lighting’s Barovier & Toso Murano Lamp in a rare Canary Yellow from Italy in the 1950s is quite the treat to the eye. The curvy body comes in this stunning highlighter yellow, it’s true, but it’s also filled with controlled bubbles and 24 hour gold, giving it a gorgeous pattern. Handmade, it’s hard to believe with what a skilled condition it’s in.
One of the hottest new trends in fashion and home décor is a trend that actually made its mark in the 1980s: neons. And not just using one neon color as an accent, but mixing and matching these highlighter hues to create dizzying color combinations that excite the senses and blow the mind. When we saw this great pair of Joe Colombo chairs in that electric green, we knew we had to find a Swank Lighting lamp with just as powerful a color, and this Murano glass lamp with the highlighter yellow color is the perfect match!
