Every now and then we'll come across an interior designer whose indeterminable style is hard to describe and impossible to dislike. Abigail Ahern is one such designer. Perusing her online portfolio you'll see a ton of different interior styles represented, and quite a lot of fun spaces. Enjoy the inspiration!
You learn two things right off the bat upon viewing Ahern's website: one, she's deft at color. Two: she's been recognized for her design skills in such top interior design magazines as Elle Décor. Flipping through the portfolio, you can start to see the common thread that runs through her work: drama.
Spaces are always heavy with mood, either full of sunshine and soft textures or dark colors and sleek lines. She seems to favor lots of chocolate browns, grays, blacks and other dark neutral colors, and pairing those neutral colors with bold but muted versions of bright colors, like blues, reds, purples, emerald greens and more.
She definitely seems to favor projects that are contemporary and eclectic in style, and she seems to really excel at the art in spaces--we saw a lot of neat wall hanging compositions and tabletop compositions that surprised us with their versatility and uniqueness.
Some rooms even had very strong graphic presences: like letters on the wall, over-sized calendars, over-sized photographs and more. This lends a masculine feel to some of her spaces, which she counterbalances with softer textiles or really feminine light fixtures.
This British wonder interior designer is all the rage in Britain and America, and guess what the best part is? If you love her interior design style, you can not only emulate it, you can buy certain looks from her very own collection, available on her website.
