This Week's Top 5 Favorite 1stdibs Items: Metallic Silver!

Metallics are an interesting breed of color and material. Futuristic, industrial, shiny and hard, metallic home decor items bring excitement, energy and shine to a space. Use a lot of them in a room to have a modern, industrial feel, or use them sparingly to inject a bit of interest into a dull corner or tabletop. Anywhere you put metallics they're sure to shine! For this post, we've focused on silver-hued metallic furniture and accessories:

1) Pair of 1970s chrome column lamps
This pair of column lamps gets its metallic shine from the material chrome. Minimal but heavy, these two pieces would give a very masculine feel to a table top, as well as reflect a lot of light!

2) Pair of Italian chrome starburst chandeliers
Another lighting fixture made of the chrome material, these chandeliers also have a dynamic shape going for them. With each spherical piece reflecting the light it gives off, this is poised to become a major focal point in a dining space or other room. From the Las Vegas Maxim hotel, rock star Lenny Kravitz apparently has a few of these in his Miami residence.

3) Nickel Plated Square Coffee Table
Designed in the 1970s by Milo Baughman, this simple coffee table packs a decor punch because of it's shiny, show-stopping chrome legs. Paired with a mirrored top, this piece would both stand out from the crowd but blend with any room's style.

5) 1940's Hollywood Sofa with Scrolled Arm Design
This gorgeous sofa proves that you don't have to buy a hard, metal piece of furniture to bring in metallic. Made of a light gray silk fabric, this sofa has a metallic-like shine to it, and is an excellent way to bring in softness and shine. It has great lines, too.
