This Week's Top 5 Favorite 1stdibs Items: Unusual Lights!

We've covered in one of our weekly "Flickr Features" posts the concept of weird and unusual table lamps before. The sort of lamps that don't necessarily look like lamps at all! Today we've rounded up some lights from 1stdibs' newest listings that might make you need a second glance to realize they are a light fixture! Adding a light fixture in your home that doesn't quite look like a traditional lamp will not only bring needed light to a room, but it'll add an element of fun and surprise to your space! Check out these neat finds:

1) Studio Singletron Rock Lamps
We love these lamps! From the 1960s and handcrafted in Ravenna, Italy, these lighted "moon rocks" are even covered in a layer of natural stone, giving them a very authentic look. How kitschy, cool and a great addition to a table top or dark corner or a room.

2) Pair Plaster Shell Sconces
These shell sconces from the 1970s go on a wall, not a table, but if arranged properly, you might be able to surprise a guest or two by being able to light up your shell wall "sculptures"! We love that they are so neutral and unassuming, too. They really become an attention grabber when turned on, but then blend seamlessly with the rest of the room when turned off!

3) Sciolari Ceiling Light
It's sort of hard to figure out what this Mid-Century piece is, lit or not! That's what makes this Sciolari ceiling light so unique, with its numerous materials, facets and angles, it's really more of a lighted piece of art than anything else. And it can be mounted on the wall or the ceiling, maybe even on a table!
Price: $3,800
Dealer:
Orange

4) Set of Three Four Light Wall Sconces
These lighted wall plaques are so neat looking. By day, they would just look like a contemporary art collection on the wall, but by night you could turn them on to create a lighted art collection! With four of them, you could really create a changing look by rearranging them in different configurations.

5) Gabriella Crespi "Pyramid" table lamp
Lastly, we bring you this neat pyramid-shaped table lamp. Seeming more like an interesting, geometric table sculpture, you could delight your guests by showing them how it's also a functioning reading lamp! So cool.
