Design Blogger Profile: Melissa Michaels of The Inspired Room!

Last week we featured Inhabitat.com, a fancy online eco-friendly lovers dream and the week before last brought you the stylish design suggestions of MoCo Loco. Up on deck today for our weekly design blogger profile is Melissa Michaels of The Inspired Room. A bit more home-centered than our last two weeks’ worth of profiles, we think you’ll enjoy the simple, fresh and thoughtful ideas in this blog.

The Inspired Room is one woman’s attempt to document and inspire what founder Melissa Michaels calls “authentic living.” Basically authentic living is the idea that if you focus on things you really love and that work for you, then you’ll naturally be living a life that actually works, without stresses, pressures and other negative feelings. The way this translates to your home is making sure you’re creating a home that you love and that works for you—not just trying to make it look like the cover of a design book or only listening to the advice from HGTV. Michaels does this in her own home and on the blog The Inspired Room by exploring her own loves and sharing them with her blog readers through home tours, advice columns, tips, ideas, products, colorful photos and plenty of other inspired material that readers can check out.

Michaels isn’t just anybody trying to live a more authentic life; she’s got plenty of expertise in the area. As an interior decorator with her own business for over three years and a busy mom, Michaels knows how hard it is to live an authentic life in this busy age. And those aren’t the only hats she wears! She’s also a pastor’s wife helping to try and launch a brand new church, writes for (in)courage and other online magazines, and speaks at conferences like Blissdom, A Woman Inspired and Relevant.

We just love the aesthetic of The Inspired Room. It’s got a warm, home-like feeling to it. Posts are written honestly, accompanied by lots of photos. Links are easy to find. You can even check out photos of Michaels’ own inspiring home which her and her family recently moved from, and keep up with the renovations of the new family home. You can also comb through the archives of The Inspired Room to find just the solution to any home problem you may have.

Though the décor shared on this site might be a bit traditional compared to what we usually post, we think there are still plenty of design, organization and life tips to benefit anyone with any styles or tastes. We highly recommend you try it!
