This Week's Top 5 Favorite 1stdibs Items: Neutral But Fabulous!

Perhaps still remembering the gorgeous neutral designs of one of our previous designer influences, Kelly Hoppen, or perhaps motivated by today's gray weather, we feel in the mood to put together a fabulous neutral room out of today's newest 1stdibs' listings. As Hoppen so gracefully shows us, neutral color palettes don't have to be boring, and in fact can be quite sophisticated and luxurious. Today's five pieces might not be bold in color, but they're certainly bold in style!

1) PK 80 daybed by Poul Kjaerholm
What a fabulously modern statement! This leather daybed is just about as streamlined as it gets, and the creamy, rich camel color of the leather is the perfect tone to dispel any myths that neutral is boring. Want to soften the look up? Add a deliciously neutral faux fur throw for some luxury.

2) Paulistana Armchair by Jorge Zalszupin
Since the above daybed is fabulous for mid-day naps, but not necessarily sitting, we've included this great armchair, upholstered in a wonderfully soft suede, neutral-colored material. Accompanied by an ottoman, we love the modern shape this brings to a room.

3) Karl Springer Faux Travertine and Brass Mirror
This mirror is such a great addition to a neutral room because it is a great example of how you can explore shapes and textures when you focus your color palette with neutrals. This mirror comes in a great octagon shape that is highlighted by the brass insets---that make the shape pop even more. Though faux, the stone paint is another great example of texture playing a big part in neutral color palettes.
Price:$3,600
Dealer: Harris Kratz

4) Incredible Spalted Maple Table by Howard Werner
Wood is often used in neutral color palettes, simply because its organic tones make such a great complement to other neutral colors. But, if you're going to go with wood, why not wow guests and the decor scheme with something really bold and rough? We love this table simply for how wild and natural it feels.
Price: $9,800

Red Modern Furniture

5) Pair of Lamps by Phillip Lloyd Powell
Though we're partial to our own turned wood lamps by Amy Grigg, these wood lamps are pretty cool, too. We especially love the neutral-colored, natural linen lampshades topping the lamps---just perfect!
Price: $9,500
Dealer:
Mondo Cane
