Today’s Perfect Pair is a bit bold, but not in terms of colors or shapes chosen. No, we’ve gone a little off-grid today, and chosen a piece of furniture by yesterday’s designer influence (the lovely blond and modern designs of
Heywood-Wakefield) that’s been fiddled with a bit. Read on to learn just what we mean and see the pair for yourself!

Though Heywood-Wakefield’s catalogue of furniture designs is enormous (with plenty of styles to choose from), when we came across
this piece, we just stopped in our tracks. What was once a textbook, classic Heywood-Wakefield Serving Piece has been “interpreted” by a more contemporary artist, Lettia Hussein. In what way has she “interpreted” this piece? Why by silk-screening organic, delicate designs on to the surface. Normally we’re not one to fall prey to enjoying needless decoration, but we just love how these lovely designs enhance this piece of furniture, making it graphic, interesting and even slightly feminine. Still a good modern piece with clean lines and neutral, blond wood, we like how a piece like this would give a room just a hint more personality than a regular Heywood-Wakefield piece could.

For the lamp counterpart to this pair, we just had to indulge in our feminine side and choose a lamp with a delightfully lovely pink tone. These
hand blown glass lamps by Joe Cariati are tear drop in shape; the lamps even mimic the shape of the female body, further perpetuating our soft and feminine composition. Placed atop Lucite bases, these lamps have just the right about of a modern-feel to them to be perfect to go with vintage Heywood-Wakefield Mid-Century Modern.

We know we go for these simply-shaped lamps often when we’re picking out perfect pairs, but it’s with reason. Though lamps can be the star of the show in a room, we also pair our lamps with fabulous furniture pieces (expensive, too) and so feel like we should let that furniture piece sing. Alike enough in color that they won’t be too jarring in contrast, we think the fact that there isn’t any other pink in the Heywood-Wakefield piece makes these lamps enough of a contrast to still keep the entire composition interesting. Together, these lamps and serving piece create an eye-catching and organic pair that is sure to help add layers of interest to any space they occupy.
