Think we’re being a tad dramatic about our love for this woman’s designs? Hardly. First of all, her website featured giant, full-sized color photographs of all the rooms she’s designed in the past for us to revel in completely, which is definitely a plus for us. Secondly, the rooms are all AMAZING. We’re talking full of color, bold, comfortable, just girly enough and wonderfully good-looking. Probably characterized most by the term “transitional style,” we can’t help but feel like there’s a bit of a Hollywood Regency bent to some of her work, as well.
There’s just something so uplifting about her work. Very inspiring, very fresh. Colors are bright, friendly, almost sunshine-y. Textiles are stretched to their maximum potential, like full-length, sumptuous curtains, plush seating cushions and eye-popping patterns. And though her spaces feel very sophisticated and grown-up, there’s also a casual, tongue-in-cheek quality to them. We’ve spotted almost-not-matching colors, modern pieces of art and quirky accessories in these spaces.
Definitely not shy about color, it’s not impossible for her to design in neutral, and we saw plenty of demure and relaxing spaces featured in her portfolio. We will say that her style is quite evident across each project she’s worked on. Obviously, client’s choose her because their tastes align strongly with hers.
Her firm, Amanda Nesbit Design (or AND), stays small on purpose, in order to focus on each project deeply. We respect that a lot. Started in 1998, she’s had plenty of time to become a venerated interior designer across the country. She’s also recently launched her on lighting and textile lines. Of course, we’re hardly the only ones to like her: her work’s been featured in such design publications as Elle Décor, House and Garden, House Beautiful, O at Home and more. You can find tons of inspiring photos on her website.
We know what you’re thinking. Swank Lighting is an amazing resource not just for the best vintage Murano glass lamps in the market today, but also a wonderful resource for interior design inspiration and a great place to get an education about past and present designers.
