This Week's Top 5 Favorite 1stdibs Items: Old-Fashioned Movie Theater Inspiration

We've been seeing a lot of movies lately. With this Texas heat, it's a favorite past time to enjoy a few hours in the air conditioning. Every time we go we can't help but think how nice it would be to have a home theater that we could escape to every now and then. But not the kind of home theater that is so common today: futuristic seating and no soul. If we had the means, we'd outfit a room in our home to look like an old-fashioned movie theater inspiration. More of an Art Nouveau meets silent movie theater/roaring 1920s, we think you'd be able to enjoy some movie classics with these pieces in your space, all taken from this week's newest listings from 1stdibs.

1) Biedermeier Chaise Longue
Why get confined in those uncomfortable movie theater chairs next to a stranger when you could stretch out on this fabulously stylish chaise longue. We love that the color of the upholstery is neutral, and that the color of the wood is a fire-toned orange.
Price: $15,250
Dealer:
Rupert Cavendish Antiques

2) Pair of Fontana Arte Sconces
A movie theater just wouldn't be complete without some stylish sconces (able to be dimmed, of course) lighting the way down the aisle to your seat. These Fontana Arte sconces come in the most scrumptious color that mimics the wood tone of the chaise longue.
Price: $9,400
Dealer:
Downtown

3) Nunc est bibendum
Get yourself and guests in the mood with antique vintage posters. Though this one isn't a movie poster, rather an advertisement for a product, the same great graphic and color quality comes through with this poster and it would still make for a great addition to a a room.
Price: $13,000
Dealer:
Colletti Gallery

4) Iconic Original Radio Nurse w/ Guardian Ear by Noguchi
While you probably won't be listening to the radio while you watch movies, we can't help but love the aesthetic quality of these old-fashioned radios, with their great stylistic speakers, and think they'd fit in perfectly in a vintage-themed home movie theater.
Price: contact dealer
Dealer:
TFTM

5) A French Gilt Bronze Birdcage Chandelier
All the great old-fashioned movie theater lobbies had amazingly fabulous hanging lights, so adorn your home version with a great-looking chandelier. Only, don't put it on for the movies; you'll want pitch black to enjoy the show!
Price: $20,000
Dealer:
Guinevere
